EAST DONYLAND / ROWHEDGE
The Six Cranfield Brothers
Sons of George & Sarah Cranfield
Lemon Simpson Everitt Cranfield
The information here is to do with Lemon, his family and general newspaper articles. Some of his notable yachting career can be found under the names of the yachts he skippered, and his smack racing in the regatta and CK86 sections. Lemon's unusual name comes from his grandmother's brother Lemon Simpson Everitt who was buried at East Donyland in 1839 aged 34, and skipper of the smack Snowdrop. How he acquired that name is unknown but maybe it goes back as far as this entry in the East Donyland registers - "Abraham Simpson, widower, & Sarah Lemon, spinster, both of East Donyland, married by licence 24 April 1737," who had a son named Lemon Simpson.
